Google Search Innovations for 2010
Google has a number of search and technology innovations on tap for 2010 that will excite businesses, website developers, and users. Google Custom Search enables businesses and website developers, to create customized search engines for their websites that include that capability of viewing search results in a style that match the website’s look.
Google has simplified AdSense for developers and websites will now be paid for searches done through their sites. Google has become XML friendly, so businesses will have more control over branding and how their seen in the search engine results. Indexing websites will be easier with improved On-Demand indexing One technologies, which will help websites position themselves better in Google rankings.
For the Users of Google, the new custom search engine will allow customized searches based on the user’s preferences or areas of expertise. This concept of search engine personalization allows Google to “learn” about a user’s favorite site selections.
When searches are made, the sites that the user most frequents are ranked higher on their next search. For example, a person frequently selects pages from the Food Channel sites because they cook, once the system learn their preference then when a food related Google search happens the Food Channel pages will be ranked higher than other sites. These personalized searches are faster and allow users to view the best results of their queries without the need to look through a number of search page results.
A user’s search history is kept for 180 day, but people have the option of turning the personalization feature off. Google has also added another layer to their search engine offer by allowing users to have a Signed-In Web History.
Users who register for the Signed-In Web History have Google track all their search engine preferences from any browser or computer they have done a Google search with while signed in. The users also have more control over their preferences and information. Google also allows deletions or modifications to the database. Signed in users retain their search information until they no longer want it unlike those who are not registered.
In 2010, Google will introduce a number of products that will seamlessly work with its enhanced search engine. Items such as the Google phone and Google’s Operating System called Chrome will these new search engine enhancements quickly and effectively to create an even closer bond between the user and their technologies.
