Don't you hate going to websites that make you feel smarter than the site. How about that feeling you get when you have a lot of information thrown at you with no specific base. Those that know how to manage the site usually find themselves on the top of the ladder while those that miss only seem to fall into pitfall after pitfall. Most sites won't obviously share their information nor give tips on how to get to the top. Then again would you be kind enough to risk your site for another site.
There is hope though, as long as you follow these basics.When trying to attract attention several things must be kept to heart. First you must acknowledge your public audience, in other words who are you trying to get to view your site.Once that is clear then you have to work on the format. How you set up the site visually can alter the amount of people that actually stay on. If you have tid bits of information all over the place then you will only end up with random order of information.Something else to keep in mind is the text:picture rat. Once again that is determined by your target audience.Take for example that you are a site meant for children, obviously you will have more pictures than text. This cannot be more specified make sure you acknowledge the target audience. Another tip that helps is if you have vocabulary specifying on your audience. If its for scientific purposes there is bound to have big words thrown in their that the majority won't understand. However, If you have a site that deals with socializing then it'd be best to stick to common words. Not to say social sites are have less intellectual people, just to refrain from confusing the average joe.Links are also a must.
Like every other site, a site must have at the least three links, unless you are providing new content even then you still have to give credit to its originator. Last but not least how you handle its promotion can also boost its popularity. Making an ad in the form of a pop-up is the worse thing you can do. If anything that will only garner hatred towards that site. The idea will be also flawed cause the majority have pop-up blocker on their personal computers.Several ways can be faced, you can always start by helping out another site. Then there is the banner ad, with a small glance many can at least acknowledge your site. If your site is already on top as long as you keep on the positive light you can ensure your sites success. By positive light I mean staying away from controversy, If a controversial issue is brought up always have both sides. How you sell the site overall determines how far your site will go before it is forgotten. Know this unless you have original content there will always be other sites with the same information. The ride won't be easy but if executed correctly there will be nothing but success.
